The combination of student absence over winter break, cold/wet weather, and possibly deference to the twin memorials (for Casey and Newtown) led to the perfect storm of Beta Bridge remaining unpainted since last month. By my count, that was at least 35 days with no new paint (although I’m not exactly sure when Newtown went up, so it could be a little longer). It remained unpainted that is, until it got smanged:

Unrelated to smanging, there is another birthday message along the top of the west wall (actually, that painting showed up yesterday above the Newtown painting, therefore it really broke the no-painting streak). So happy bday to Nik Nak too. Not totally sure what it has to do with a birthday, but John 10:10 is written on there, which says: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” So it’s saying… live life to the fullest? Who knows. Anyway I guess that’s from Salt:
