Obama in town

After a typically slow summer on the Beta Bridge, it’s obvious the new semester is here with three paintings today (the first day of classes).  First, there was a sizable crew of young Obama supporters painting the east side of the bridge to advertise for a rally tomorrow at the Pavilion:

Update (8/29): the Obama painting made the front page of today’s Daily Progress

Later in the day, the women’s swimming team (“S’Women”) painted both sides of the bridge, which is their annual tradition:

Unfortunately they did so quite sloppily, spilling paint all over the southeast corner of the bridge.  I saw several people slipping on the wet paint (see image above, showing ladies treading carefully).  It also looks like they made an extra mess, involving mayonaise and cashews:

Mayo?

Mark my words: if there is ever anything that will ruin the tradition of painting Beta Bridge, it will be an excess of these types of incidents.  Keep it clean, ladies.
