Last night I walked by the bridge as it was being covered in paint like I haven’t seen before. I mean that in two ways. First, the painters seemed to have forgotten brushes and were painting with their bodies. Around a dozen people had heavily paint-laden skin and clothes. I didn’t have my camera with me and it was dark, so no photos of that (they would have been good!). Second, I always wonder to myself: “After all these years of painting, how is it that the sidewalks are not completely covered?” Well, my question didn’t really get answered, but about 1/3 of the sidewalk on the west side got totally covered. I was curious, so I asked one of the painters if they were some kind of organization and he confirmed it was APO, the “service fraternity”. Certainly not doing service to the sidewalk!
