Beat Tech

Today we have a more uncommon occurrence: the two-sided paint job (i.e. both sides of the bridge are painted for the same event).  The double painting is in support of the biggest football game of the season against Virginia Tech.  It seems Beta Bridge has been co-opted as “The London Bridge” for now, referring to head coach Mike London.

THX BETA 11 26 SHOW UP @1:30 THE LONDON BRIDGE BEAT TECH GATES AT 1:30 11 26 11 THX BETA

The enthusiasm comes after Saturday’s win against Florida State.  The good news is that UVA is now ranked at #24, according to the AP, but the bad news is that Tech is already ranked at #6.

The east side features a pun in the form of a rhetorical question, but appears unfinished since it doesn’t say what they’re playing for:

GATES BEAT TECH HOOS THE BEST WE'RE PLAYING FOR

There is also some writing along the top of the bridge, which is usually difficult to photograph (sans ladder):

GO 'HOOS

And of course, the obligatory THX BETA:

THX BETA
